Because the Bird Road warehouse district began attracting local artists in 1983, in June 2000, the County resolved to designate this neighborhood as an Art District. Since then, many art galleries, artists, frame specialists, and antique stores have moved in.
The area is bounded by State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway), SW 72 Avenue (Milam Dairy Road), SW 40 Street (Bird Road) and SW 48 Street. There are signs at the exits of the Palmetto Expressway informing tourists and motorists of the Bird Road Art District. Check each venue’s hours because they are not organized as an art walk.
