Grand Opening and Artists Reception
on April 11, 7 pm

Witold-K, Cedric Smith, Laura DiNello, June Stratton, Terry Strickland, Elena Madden, Tobia Makover, and Rhia
Paintings. Photography

Paintings and photography by emerging and established national and international artist such as Witold-K who’s work was exhibited by Sotheby’s Amsterdam in 2007. This Polish painter, sculpture, designer, architect and poet worked with Pablo Picasso in France for a brief time. Picasso painted a portrait of him.

Laura DiNello who cuts her paintings into small pieces and reconstructs them back, turning the paintings into gorgeous very complex canvas mosaics.

June Stratton who’s realism oils are derived from motion photography. Her dark humor is best described in her paintings of women with shotguns that read titles like: Man Hunt or Primetime Woman.

Cedric Smith who, in Art Basel 2009 will be represented exclusively by the Parisian Galerie Nordine Zidoun. His mixed media paintings show African Americans on large advertising signs that look like they are from a time where you would not see African Americans portrayed on everyday billboards or labels.

PressItOn art gallery has a different vision for the Miami art market. Owner Adrian Pasieka’s long term dream was to create an art gallery where harmony and education is promoted through art. Activities such as meditation groups, lectures and poem readings are indented in the near future. PressItOn art gallery is opening the doors featuring artists whom art gallery director Adela Holmes has dealt with in the past and are a must see in Miami

57 x 39 in

Jamali. Shie Moreno. Andrew Muggleton
Lawrence Savage Galleries welcomes the internationally renowned artist Jamali who has long attracted a select and international circle of collectors, drawn by his mystical style and charismatic persona.

Jamali's method of painting is its own unique chapter in the history of contemporary art. He paints out of doors, applying paint in a meditative dance, like the Sufi mystic's swirling prayer to God. He builds up his intense and complex surfaces over time, allowing the natural elements to interact with the paint and canvas. It often feels as if time and nature, not the artist, had created these deeply etched and layered surfaces. Jamali's method brings to new fruition what Donald Kuspit calls "the unconscious mystical meaning of modernist surface."

The Galleries continue to present Shie Moreno’s artwork of individual expression and the display of noted designer Andrew Muggleton’s 2009 furniture collection.

Carlito Dalceggio. Kindom of Visions
New paintings, Drawings, Films and Sculpture

Carlito Dalceggio is at a stalwart of Montreal’s burgeoning art scene since the 1990’s. His extensive travels have pushed his unique aesthetic boundaries to represent an imaginary mythology of the universal consciousness, while motivating him to explore different media, all while keeping painting a central avenue of expression.

Carlito Dalceggio gives a pictorial rhythm to his paintings by using unbroken lines. Moreover, he creates subtle volumes by layering coat upon coat of pigment-rich paint, giving dimension to colour and a tactile quality to the canvas’ surface. Carlito Dalceggio’s works take their source in mysticism, eroticism and transcend as a celebration of life. Eclectic and nomadic, his body of work includes experimentation with drawing, sculpture, photography, video, stained-glass, music, live paintings, and so forth.

The pieces presented are inspired by the iconography, symbols, senses and colors of his latest travels in India and Mexico. As a multi-medium and collaborative artist, Carlito Dalceggio is also presenting drawings, sculptures and designed chairs by John Hutton from Miami.
