85@85 and U-4RIA:Pushing the Limits
miArte Galley shows a unique group exhibition, 85@85 showcasing eighty-five local and international artists. The artists were invited to create individual works inspired by existing boundaries. The exhibition is presented as an installation consisting of separate canvases, each share the same dimensions, but each is uniquely different in style, with varying subject matter and in a variety of media. While together they form one, ultimately each canvas is a unique work of art that will be sold separately. Daniel Garcia, Marcy Grosso, MANO, George Rodez and Veronica Jaeger among others.
U-4RIA: Pushing the Limits
MANO, Aurora Molina, George Rodez and Luis Enrique Torres.
Wild, scribbled graffiti-like marks, deliberate drips, dribbles and carefully-sewn stitching energize the many canvases and works on paper presented in this exhibition revealing the artists sensuous joy in manipulating different mediums to create their own sense of euphoria.
The exuberance of color and texture is not without order or clarity, viewers’ expectations are challenged as to what an image can and should represent. The artists push the boundaries collectively in making U-4RIA an exciting and compelling exhibition for art enthusiasts and collectors.

Six 21st Century Contemporary Chinese Neo-Pop Artists
Li Bo, Kang Can, Xiong Lijun, Yang Na, Lu Peng, Liu Yan |
The region’s first exhibition of contemporary Chinese Neo-Pop art .
“We are fortunate indeed to be able to offer these works at a time when contemporary Chinese art is one of the hottest new categories for the art world’s collectors,” said gallery owner and director Virginia Miller.“
Clearly, the market reflects the astonishing growth of the Chinese economy and its newly affluent professionals,” noted the veteran art dealer, “but the fresh outlook of a new group of contemporary artists, born during an era of their country’s tremendous social, political and economic upheaval, has created a solid foundation for the booming international market in these works.”
“Six Contemporary Chinese Neo-Pop Artists,” which includes two dozen paintings and one-of-a-kind works on paper.. |

| Miguel Ponticu / Trees of Steel |
Spanish sculptor and painter Miguel Ponticu bring us his Trees of Steel exhibit to be shown at Jorge Sori Fine Art gallery on January 4th , 2008. The trees are ten in total, and are done in bronze and stainless steel, as the artist is sending a clear ecological message with his work. Ponticu says that "his work is a compromise with our ecosystem" and hopes that through the exhibit the public will gain awareness about the importance of the conservation of natural resources.
The "trees" have had quite a journey since they were first esculpted. They have been shown is his native Spain, in several museums, and recently the trees made it across the ocean and have graced the halls of the prestigious gallery in New York City. Now they are ready to be shown here in the heart of Coral Gables.

Omar Rayo
Corteza del Arco Iris |
“In the beginning, (Colombian Master) Omar Rayo could paint while he listened to music. Not now. He feels as if two opposing forms of music waged war inside of him, because his work is basically a musical exercise. There is movement in the quietude, tension in the equilibrium, an internal logic that is not evident, there are themes, and harmonies, and dissonance, and, sometimes, as always happens with music, it is rewarding to detect a dialogue between the notes, the prolonged notes that resonate deep and turn suddenly agitated, the arpeggios, the thunder of the rapid notes that unexpectedly shake the canvas like the tremor in the water when a rock hits the surface.” William Ospina. *Abstracted from the book Omar Rayo, Villegas Editores.
