Belarmino Miranda, Manantial, 2007, oil on canvas 43 x 51 in

Belarmino Miranda. Recent Works
During the latter part of the 1990s two figurative currents were beginning to emerge in the world of art. The first was Hyperrealism (under the umbrella of a strong development of the visual arts and motion pictures) and neorealism which had been declared extinct by many critics. These two currents are subtlely present in the works of Colombian painter Belarmino Miranda. A native of Medellin, Miranda's work focuses on feminine nudes as they mix with simple contemporary landscapes.

Miranda's works were featured in the Bogota's prestigious art fair "Artbog". The works sold quite well and heavily impressed those in attendance. His works now travel to Miami and they will exposed at Jorge Sori Fine Art on March 7th, 2008. An exhibit featuring over 14 paintings as well as a reception with the artist himself. In these paintings Miranda offers us a glimpse of the poetics of a memory of origins as he mixes elements as simple as the encounter of the woman's skin with the purity of water.

Contemporary Cuban Artists
Juan Antonio Alfonso Serrano, Yoselin Echevarria Sanchez, Alejandro Fernandez Borrell, Rensol Gonzalez Mendez, Carlos Verdial

John Amat has set his intuitive eye on the art of his native island of Cuba. The self-taught artist and entrepreneur has tapped into the bountiful island and discovered talented artists creating extraordinary landscapes and windows into the timeless milieu of the island.

The art gallery represents Cuban artists that show an array of styles ranging from hyperrealism to surrealism, as well as a diverse content area without the trappings of political, social or economic undertones. When you step inside the gallery, the breathtaking lush mountain landscapes and fauna with cavernous watering holes: or the still life consisting of the exotic native fruits wrapped by the sensuous oblique lighting: in a hidden corner, will take you far away, yet only miles away.

Until March 28
Paper & Fiber
MANO, Aurora Molina, George Rodez and Luis Enrique Torres.

The artists delve into paths of abstraction and expressionism using multidisciplinary techniques to create narratives of love and attachment.

MANO fills his paintings with intense color and texture, drawing on his background as an engineer he transforms paper and fiber to indulge in romantic imagery.

Aurora Molina’s fiber art revives the centuries-old craft of stitching and embroidery into the mainstream of contemporary art. Her work conveys powerful metaphors of life and love that belie her youth.

Rodez’s erotic works on paper allude to sexual tension and suggestion, however the artists says that “ it is created from a deep unconscious level..."

Torres’s work is richly saturated with organic substance and color conveying a powerful silence that challenges the viewer to connect time and space..
