Renato Meziat, Cabagges and Tomatoes, Oil on Canvas; 2008; 36 x 48 in.

Renato Meziat. Recent Works
Renato Meziat
was born in Rio de Janairo in 1952. In 1978 and 1979, his work was chosen for display at the prestigious I Sala National de Artes Plasticas. Then in 1980, his solo exhibition graced the halls of the Galleria Ipanema in his native city.

Meziat
ranks among the top notch realist contemporary painters, influenced by the works of Chileans master Claudio Bravo. Well cultured, attentive observer of the different "realities" that surrounded him, skilled in the handling of shades and colors, self-taught, who was born to paint, he searches in art the means to becoming a man of the 21st century.

Meziat shows us his work with remarkable simplicity and elegance. Never academic, his compositions are always well balanced and sophisticated. His paintings are in private collections throughout North and South America and Europe. His works have also been sold very successfully at several auctions at Sotheby's and Christie's, Latin American Art in New York City. .

Aaron Karp, Cachara Dancer, Acrylic on Canvas, 2004.
52 x 48 in.

Michelle Concepcion, Aaron Karp, Florian Depenthal, Andy Moses and Linda Touby
Five Abstract Visions
“Each of these artists have been exhibited in museums and are included in some of the nation’s most important collections,” said gallery owner and director Virginia Miller. “Each has spent years perfecting a highly personal technique and offers a unique visual statement.”

Michelle Concepción’s soft, dreamy shapes with surfaces that appear deeply coruscated appear to be floating in deep space or a bottomless abyss. Florian Depenthal, a glider pilot, whose exuberant palette includes colors he mixes from a cache of fluorescent pigments, says some of his works are inspired by his airborne glimpses of the reflecting and absorbent planes of the earth’s surface.

Aaron Karp’s multihued, mosaic-like painting surfaces shimmer with motion, inspired by tiled domes of the Alhambra. Andy Moses’ masterful use of special aerospace paints presents surfaces that refract into a different color as the light source changes. According to critic Ed McCormack, Linda Touby’s paintings “suggest the erosion that time has wrought upon the surfaces of Giotto’s great frescoes.”

In my work I want to capture our soul, our experiences, relationships, deep emotions, feelings and how these influence our existence. I am interested in the inner and the spiritual aspects of our lives and how it is all connected to our physical world.”Artist Statement

Antonia Guzman, Te Sostengo, Acrylic on Canvas, 31 x 16 in.

Until December 31st
Antonia Guzmán.
Lazos de Amor / Love Ties

This is Guzmán’s most recent work. In this new series, her paintings are visual poems that revolve around her family life and the many complexities that emanate from it.

IEach painting offers a glimpse into a moment in time in which an intimate exchange is taking place. Guzmán titles her paintings carefully, offering some clarity by connecting the dots between the viewer’s personal interpretation and the artist’s intent.

The childlike characters that fly across her canvases, intertwining with one another, emphasize themes of family bond, heritage, fragile unions and/or unstable connections. Underneath the vivid colors and playful compositions, the artist reveals a world of complex emotions. To her, there is nothing stronger than the unconditional ties that form within the family, despite how burdensome these relationships may become.

As Antonia herself puts it: “What else is love if not those links, mandates, divisions, unions, and that powerful force that attracts and rejects.”

The Americas Collection art gallery has represented Antonia Guzmán for almost a decade. This gallery has actively promoted her work in numerous solo exhibitions and various art fairs like Art Miami, arteaméricas, and Red Dot.

Carmelo Niño Un Caballo para San Jorge. Acrylic and mixed media on canvas, 2006,

Until Nov. 20
Carmelo Niño.
Imaginación y Magia

"His radically figurative paintings, makes us rethink about something that with the passing o time sometimes we forget: the human figure still possess a seductive capacity for the arts. It all consists in using it in the way an artist such as Carmelo Niño knows how to do. The magic realism which stands out in his group of characters is the link which unites them in the space. But at the same time its persistence in obtaining a pictoric efficiency gives a utopia element to his work. By this I mean that his panting goes beyond what is dictated by current fashions and goes beyond a different dimension, from which the artist confronts that frivolity in which art has recently fallen.".
